Permeability versus octanol partition for basic solutes. Plot of the log of the permeability (cm/sec) versus the log of the octanol/water partition (log D) for the basic solutes in Additional file 1: Table 2. The log D was determined at pH = 7.4 (Figure 11 A), 6.4 (Figure 11 B) and 5.4 (Figure 11 C). The solid line is the linear regression fit to the black points and the dashed line is the linear regression fit to the neutral solutes (Figure 10). The orange point is midodrine which is a substrate for the peptide transport system.
