For cell viability investigations previously seeded hepatocytes were treated with taurolidine and stained for cleaved caspase 3. Fluorescence microscopy revealed an increase of cleaved caspase 3 positive cells (green cells) in a dose-dependent manner (a-d). Analysis of mean fluorescent intensity using a computer based program (ImageJ®) showed significantly higher fluorescence after administration of high dose taurolidine (1 mg/ml) (e).
